What I am not About

To best explain what kind of person I am, I want to start by touching on some things that illustrate what kind of person I am not.

To begin with, I am not someone who will be self-important and put on airs of superiority or privilege once I become a glamorous city elected official.  For example, I will not be someone who is too important or fabulous to comply with the rules around a regular building security checkpoint that everyone else is expected to go through.  And I am most certainly not the type of person who would throw a tantrum after getting called out for trying to ignore the rules and blow by a security checkpoint

I am also not the type of person who would pressure important city employees to sign resignation letters for me to keep in my desk and hold over their heads to, uh, I dunno, intimidate them for some reason.  Or the type of person that would issue public health directives to our city’s citizens, expect them to comply with my directives, but not really actually comply with those same directives myself.  From my point of view, whatever is good for the goose will also be good for the mayor.

One last thing that I am not is a politician.  I have no desire to be a politician in the strict sense of the word.  In fact, I will declare here and now that I am not, and will not be, a politician.  I’m a lousy liar anyway, and my memory is nowhere near good enough to remember all the stuff that is necessary to convincingly further a lie.  Given this, my lifelong philosophy has always been to just tell the truth.  I find it much easier in the long run.
